Tesco Clubcard basics
Show your free Clubcard using the app or card at Tesco, or link it to your online grocery account to earn one point for every £1 spent. You can also accumulate points through partners like Esso or even without making a purchase—explore various methods to earn Clubcard points. Once you’ve gathered enough points, they’ll be converted into vouchers.
How can I get a Clubcard?
You can join Clubcard for free, although there is an optional paid membership available that offers additional benefits (see details below). You can join online* and print off a temporary card to scan in stores, or download the app (available on Android and iOS), which lets you sign up and scan a digital version.
How much are Clubcard vouchers worth?
The value of these points varies based on how you intend to use them. Each point is equivalent to 1p when shopping at Tesco, so 500 points can be exchanged for a £5 voucher to use in-store. However, by trading these vouchers, you can get up to double their value (turning £5 into £10) in Reward Partner vouchers. Check out our best swaps below.
How do I access my vouchers?
Once you’ve earned over 150 points, there are three ways to collect your vouchers:
1. You can simply wait for your statement which comes every three months
If you accumulate more than 150 points within a three-month timeframe, Tesco will issue Clubcard vouchers in February, May, August, and November, which can be redeemed in-store or online.
2. To save you waiting every three months you can use the Faster Vouchers scheme instead to get them in 24 hours, either via your online account or the app
The Faster Vouchers* program enables you to convert your entire points balance (rounded down to the nearest 50p) into vouchers.
To access these vouchers, log in to the Tesco app or your online Clubcard account and opt to convert your points into Faster Vouchers. These vouchers will be available in your Clubcard account within 24 hours. Our tests using the app showed that the vouchers were often available immediately, though this isn’t always guaranteed.
You can use these vouchers in-store, online, or with Clubcard Reward Partners. For in-store use, you can either print the Faster Vouchers at home or scan the voucher directly from the app at the tills.
These vouchers are valid for up to 21 months from the conversion date, which is a shorter period compared to standard Clubcard vouchers that expire after two years.
Will I still get my Clubcard statement through the post?
If you get a Faster Voucher, you’ll no longer get Clubcard statements by post.
Instead you’ll just receive your quarterly Clubcard statement by email. If you want to opt in to receiving a postal statement and paper vouchers again, you need to do so on the Clubcard website.
When are Faster Vouchers not available?
Faster Vouchers cannot be obtained during the two weeks preceding the dispatch of Tesco Clubcard statements. These statements are issued in February, May, August, and November. However, the specific dates in these months may vary, meaning there are no fixed intervals when Faster Vouchers are inaccessible.
Can I get Faster Vouchers if I’ve opted in to schemes such as the Christmas Saver?
If you are part of specific other voucher programs, you will NOT be eligible for Faster Vouchers.
According to Tesco’s website, participating in a voucher scheme like the Christmas Saver prevents you from requesting Faster Vouchers unless you choose to opt out.
Is Clubcard Plus any good?
Tesco offers a Clubcard Plus subscription service for £7.99 per month, providing benefits such as 10% off two shopping trips each month. Subscribers also receive a 10% discount on F&F and other non-grocery Tesco brands, along with double data for those on a pay-monthly Tesco Mobile contract.
This service is typically beneficial if you spend over £80 in-store monthly. A free one-month trial is currently available, but remember to mark your calendar to cancel if you decide not to continue with the subscription.
Detailed information is provided below, along with a guide to help you determine if the service is worthwhile for you.
What do you get with Clubcard Plus?
As well as the usual benefits of the standard Clubcard scheme, with Clubcard Plus you’ll get:
- 10% off two shops up to £200 each, including most items, every month. You can save up to £20 on two purchases, but these discounts are exclusively available in-store and cannot be used online. You’ll be able to activate your 10% discount at any time through the app, but remember, it cannot be applied retroactively (for instance, after you’ve completed your purchase). So, be sure to have your smartphone with you while shopping. The monthly offer starts from the day you sign up; if you register on June 8th, the offer will renew on June 8th each subsequent month.
Please note that certain items are excluded from the discount. These exclusions include fuel and automotive products, electronics, lottery tickets, gift vouchers and cards, savings stamps and postage stamps, tobacco and related accessories, infant formula milk, prescription medications, newspapers and magazines, foreign currency, carrier bag fees, in-store cafés or coffee shops, and alcoholic beverages with a 25% discount limit on a maximum of six bottles.
- 10% off non-grocery Tesco brands, for example, F&F. You’ll receive discounts on F&F, Fred & Flo, Go Cook, Fox & Ivy, Tesco Pet, and Carousel products. This discount is in addition to the previous offer and will be automatically applied when you use your Clubcard Plus at checkout. We’ve reached out to Tesco to clarify how these discounts will work if you purchase a combination of these items along with those that qualify for the earlier offer, and we’ll provide an update once we get a response.
- Double data on a pay-monthly contract. Each month, you’ll receive this benefit, available to both new and current Tesco Mobile customers. After subscribing to Clubcard Plus, you can access the double data promotion through the Tesco app.
- The option to apply for a Tesco Bank credit card with no foreign exchange fees (though cash withdrawals aren’t fee-free). Standard credit assessments will be conducted. Cardholders will benefit from 0% interest on purchases for up to 24 months from the card’s issuance. The card has an APR of 37.7%, which includes the fee.
If you sign up for the card and then decide to exit the Clubcard Plus program, you’ll still be able to use it for 12 months from the date of your application.
Is it worth signing up?
Determining if Clubcard Plus is a good investment for you largely depends on your monthly spending habits in-store. Although it offers additional benefits like a credit card and double data, these features are more supplementary rather than essential reasons to subscribe. Similar offers can often be found elsewhere without committing to a subscription.
Here’s our analysis:
- If you spend £80+ a month in store at Tesco, it could be worth it. The primary advantage of this program is a 10% discount at two different stores, allowing you to save up to £40 on a £400 purchase. With a £7.99 monthly fee, you need to spend at least £80 a month on groceries to cover the cost (since 10% of £80 is £8). Therefore, if your monthly grocery bill at Tesco exceeds £80, Clubcard Plus might be a good option for you.For those with a large shopping trip coming up, Tesco mentions that you can enroll and apply the discount on the same day.
- If you’ve got a big spend on non-grocery Tesco brands, such as F&F, it could be worth it. To break even, you’d need to spend over £80 per month, or alternatively, you could sign up for just one month and cancel after making a purchase exceeding £80.
- It’s probably not worth signing up for double mobile data. It’s worth checking if there are better deals available elsewhere using our Best Sim-only deals guide.
- It’s not worth signing up just for the Tesco credit card. This card provides several valuable advantages, including some like the absence of foreign transaction fees, which can also be found on other no-fee cards. For additional information, check out our guide to Travel credit cards.
How do I sign up?
You can subscribe to the Clubcard Plus scheme online*, or via the Tesco app (for Android and iOS). You’ll need to be signed up as a basic (free) Clubcard member already. If you’re not already a Clubcard member, you can sign up online*.
Clubcard Plus costs £7.99 a month (£95.88 a year), is a rolling one-month contract and there’s no minimum subscription.
Changed your mind? How to cancel Clubcard Plus
Tesco says you don’t need to give notice if you want to cancel your subscription. You can do this at any point, within the app.
How to add to your Tesco Clubcard points haul
There are numerous methods to earn additional points—some require you to make routine purchases, while others allow you to accumulate points without spending any money.
Earn Clubcard points without spending
You can boost your points balance without spending any money. However, it’s essential to review the complete terms and conditions, as many of these opportunities involve agreeing to receive communications from Tesco regarding upcoming promotions and deals.
- Complete surveys. Sign up for Shopper Thoughts, and if you’re accepted into the program, you’ll earn points each time you finish the surveys sent to your email. These surveys typically last from five to 20 minutes, and the points you receive can differ based on the survey’s length (usually around 100 points for a 15-minute survey). Additionally, you can participate in prize draws.
Earn Clubcard points with everyday spending
You earn Tesco Clubcard points* at a rate of one point for every £1 spent in-store. However, it’s a good idea to look at the app for personalized offers that might give you additional points. For instance, Gemma received a coupon that gave her 100 extra points for a £10 purchase at Tesco.
There are also additional ways to collect points through spending with Tesco’s partner companies or other Tesco-related ventures.
- An extra point per £4 with Tesco Bank credit cards. Tesco Bank credit cards offer the benefit of earning additional Clubcard points beyond the standard amount. For purchases made at Tesco, you earn five Clubcard points for every £4 spent. When buying Tesco fuel, you receive one Clubcard point for every £4 spent plus an extra point for each litre of fuel purchased (with a minimum spend of £4, excluding Esso). For transactions made outside Tesco, you accumulate one Clubcard point for every £8 spent (with a minimum spend of £8).
You could get a better return with a cashback card though – for full help and options, see Credit card rewards.
- Bonus points if your phone’s on Tesco Mobile. Tesco Mobile customers can collect one Clubcard point for every £1 spent on pay-as-you-go top-ups and pay-monthly bills. You’ll need to register your Clubcard with Tesco Mobile via your online account, or by texting ‘CLUBCARD’ to 28578 for free from your mobile.
- Go wallet-free with the Tesco app. The Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app is available on Android and iPhone. You can use it to scan a digital version of your Clubcard, so there’s no need to carry the physical card around.Additionally, the app allows you to save your credit or debit card information, enabling you to effortlessly pay for your purchases and automatically gather Clubcard points with a single QR code scan. The app is applicable for payments at any Tesco location or petrol station, with no minimum spend requirement and a transaction limit of up to £250.
- Get PAID to shop with in-store promotions. Keep an eye out for Tesco promotions that offer additional Clubcard points, as these can sometimes present opportunities to buy items that you don’t necessarily need but can still benefit from.Notable examples include the well-known Johnson’s Baby Powder and beef-in-gravy promotions, which initially appeared on this website and eventually made headlines. During these promotions, vouchers could be exchanged for up to four times their face value.
Here’s how it worked:When you purchased any two Johnson’s products, you received an extra 100 points. The least expensive option was baby powder, priced at 76p. This meant spending £1.52 to earn 101 points, which translated to £4.04 in Clubcard deals vouchers, resulting in a profit of over £2.50.Even if a direct profit isn’t possible, these bonus points can still yield substantial savings. For example, Tesco once offered iPod Shuffles for £49—a decent price at the time—and included 999 bonus points. These points were worth £42 in Clubcard deals, effectively reducing the cost of the iPod to just £7.
Spend your points for 2x their value
As mentioned earlier, you have the option to exchange your points for Tesco vouchers that can be used in-store. Typically, 500 points equate to £5. However, if you use them strategically, those same 500 points could potentially be valued at £10. This involves swapping Clubcard vouchers for codes that can be used with Clubcard Reward Partners* for a variety of items, including jewelry, travel, food, entertainment, and more.
We’ve done the math and compiled a list of the best rewards available. Be sure to verify that your Clubcard vouchers are providing you with the most advantageous deal before finalizing your decision.
Disney+ subscription – 2x value
For every £12 worth of Clubcard vouchers, you can secure a three-month subscription to Disney+* (ad-free, typically priced at £7.99 per month, giving you double the value).
You’ll receive a code that remains valid until May 1, 2025. If you already have an active subscription, you can wait until it expires before using the code—just set a reminder in your calendar to avoid missing it.
If you’d rather go for the ad-supported version, it will cost £7.50 in Clubcard vouchers (which is usually £4.99 per month, offering double the value).
Why it’s a great choice: It provides a significant discount on a highly sought-after streaming service. This offer is available for both new and current Disney+ subscribers (just remember to cancel if you don’t wish to continue after the three months).
Full Disney+ info
Minimum Clubcard voucher amount: £7.50 with ads, or £12 without ads
Value: 2x voucher value
Remember to cancel if you don’t want to keep Disney+ after three months. You’ll be automatically enrolled into a Disney+ monthly subscription. This means once your three-month subscription using Clubcard vouchers is over, you’ll pay the full £4.99 or £7.99/month unless you cancel.
It’s worth checking what other deals are out there, too. For example, O2 newbies can get up to six months of Disney+ for free, and existing O2 customers can get £2/month off a subscription.
Existing Disney+ monthly subscribers can use Clubcard vouchers too. It’s a bit of a faff as you’ll need to cancel your current Disney+ subscription, wait until that month’s billing cycle is over, and then you can activate your Clubcard Disney+ subscription. See full info on the Tesco Clubcard* website.

Reclaim lost Tesco vouchers
A lot of people end up misplacing or forgetting to use their Tesco vouchers, but there’s a simple method to reclaim unused vouchers from the past two years (or 21 months if you utilize Faster Vouchers). Some individuals have even managed to recover vouchers from an earlier period.
Here’s a guide to finding any overlooked vouchers and a tip on how to extend their validity:
1 – Log in online. Go to the Tesco Clubcard* site (you’ll need to be registered for a Tesco.com account). You’ll need your email address, password and Clubcard number to access your account.
2 – Check for unspent vouchers. In your Clubcard account, click on ‘my Clubcard account’ and then ‘vouchers’ on the left-hand side and you should see a table listing the vouchers you still have to spend.
3 – Instantly print vouchers or use the codes online. If you want to spend vouchers online, you simply need to use the code listed, for example, beginning “A6TCD”. To spend in store, print vouchers yourself to use instantly.
Clubcard vouchers about to expire? There’s a trick to extend them
- Make a small purchase on the Tesco Clubcard* site (not in store or on other Tesco websites) and the remaining balance is credited back to your Clubcard account as points.
- They’ll then be reissued as new vouchers (with an expiry date up to two years in the future) when you next get a batch. So if you spend 50p from a £10 voucher, you’ll get £9.50 as new vouchers.
- There’s no min spend, but the aim’s to shell out as little as possible. A good option might be a 50p restaurant voucher* (worth £1 at your chosen restaurant).
Keep in mind that you’ll need to handle this process for each separate voucher, so consider whether it’s worthwhile for smaller amounts. For instance, if you have a £10 voucher, it’s likely worth the effort. However, if you only have several £1 vouchers, it might not be as beneficial.
How can I help friends and family who aren’t online?
To check if you have any vouchers to use, simply call Tesco customer services at 0800 591 688. The team will verify if you have vouchers that need replacing. If you do, they’ll cancel the lost ones and credit the points to your balance for your next statement, ensuring the vouchers are reissued.
How far back can I access unspent vouchers?
The online system displays only active vouchers. Tesco retains Clubcard vouchers in your account for a duration of two years, allowing you to access and use vouchers from as far back as two years.
Can I use vouchers online straightaway?
Your account information will display the code required to redeem rewards online, allowing you to access them immediately.
Can I get a refund on Tesco Reward Partner vouchers?
No, Tesco’s Reward Partner vouchers cannot be refunded, even if they remain unused. Typically, these vouchers are valid for six months from the date they are issued, unless a different validity period is specified.
