UAE allocated $545 million from the budget for flood relief
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that they allocated approximately 545 million dollars to cover the damage of the flood disaster that occurred in the country 8 days ago.
According to the news of the UAE news agency WAM, the results and effects of the weather conditions experienced in the country in the past few days were discussed at the cabinet meeting held in the capital Abu Dhabi, attended by the Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Speaking at the meeting, UAE Prime Minister Al Maktoum stated that UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed gave instructions to control the damage caused by the flood, provide support to families and immediately examine the infrastructure.
Emphasizing that the safety of its citizens and residents is their top priority, Al Maktum said, “We have approved an amount of 2 billion dirhams (approximately 545 million dollars) to repair the damages to citizens’ residences and homes. The ministry committee will follow up this file, determine the damages in the houses and pay compensation. We created it.” he said.
Al Maktoum also stated that the Council of Ministers formed a commission under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure to evaluate the damage caused by showers and floods to the infrastructure and to propose solutions and measures at the state level.
The UAE announced that the highest rainfall amount in the last 75 years was recorded in the country on April 16. Bad weather conditions led to the closure of airports in the country, disruption of flights, and difficulties in economic life.
