Slowdown in inflation in Japan
In Japan, headline inflation decreased to 2.7 percent in March, while core inflation remained stable at 2.6 percent.
Japan’s headline inflation rate stood at 2.7 percent in March, down from the 2.8 percent recorded in February.
Core inflation in the country was 2.6 percent, below 2.8 percent in February, in line with economists’ expectations.
The “core-to-core” measure of inflation used by the Bank of Japan fell from 3.2 percent to 2.9 percent, marking the first time the index has fallen below 3 percent since November 2022.
