Acceleration in inflation in Japan

In Japan, where ultra-loose monetary policy was implemented, headline inflation increased in June. According to the data, annual inflation in Japan was recorded as 3.3 percent in June. Economists participating in the survey had expected inflation to be 3.2 percent. In May, inflation in the country was 3.2 percent.

A limited retracement was observed in core inflation. In June, the annual increase in prices excluding fresh food and energy was 4.2 percent in Japan. In the previous month, the annual increase in this group was 4.3 percent.

Despite the acceleration in inflation, the messages from the monetary policy authority indicate that the easing will continue.
