US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called climate change an “existential threat” and urged China to tackle it together.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen discussed the fight against climate change with climate experts she met during her visit to Beijing.
Stating that China and the USA, despite the differences of opinion on many issues, the two countries should work together on global problems, Yellen said:
“As the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases and the largest investors in renewable energy, we have a shared responsibility and capacity to lead. Climate change is at the top of the list of global challenges. The United States and China must work together to address this existential threat.”
