The number of job vacancies in the USA is at its lowest level in 3 years
The number of job openings in the US fell to the lowest level since 2021 in April.
The US Department of Labor announced JOLTS job vacancy data for April.
Accordingly, the number of vacant jobs in the country decreased by 296 thousand in April compared to the previous month, falling to 8 million 59 thousand. Thus, the number of open jobs in the country dropped to the lowest level since 2021.
Market expectations were that the number of open jobs would be 8 million 350 thousand in this period. The number of vacant jobs, which was announced as 8 million 488 thousand in March, was revised to 8 million 355 thousand.
Latest data shows the labor market has cooled, but this has happened gradually due to a slowdown in hiring rather than outright layoffs.
