Job vacancies in the US fell below expectations

The number of JOLTS Job Openings in the USA was 9 million 582 thousand in June, below market expectations.

The U.S. Department of Labor has released the JOLTS Open Jobs Count data for June.

Accordingly, the number of job vacancies in the country decreased by 34 thousand in June compared to the previous month and decreased to 9 million 582 thousand.

The number of vacant jobs, which was below expectations, was expected to be 9 million 610 thousand in this period.

In June, the number of vacancies, which recorded its lowest level since April 2021, was 9 million 616 thousand in May.

The sectors in which the number of job vacancies increased during this period included health services and welfare, and state and local governments.

Transportation, warehousing and utilities, state and local government education, and the federal government were ranked as the sectors where the number of job vacancies decreased the most.

The number of recruitments decreased by 326 thousand in June to 5 million 905 million.

The number of people who were laid off or quit their jobs in the country decreased by 288 thousand in the same period to 5 million 637 thousand.
