Cleveland Fed names next president/CEO

The Cleveland Fed has named Goldman Sachs veteran Beth Hammack as its new president.

The Cleveland Fed announced Wednesday that Beth M. Hammack will become the new president and chief executive officer after current president Loretta Mester retires at the end of June.

Hammack, 52, joins the Cleveland Fed after three decades at Goldman Sachs. She is scheduled to vote on monetary policy decisions starting Aug. 21, when her term will officially begin.

Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee will vote to replace Cleveland Fed at the Federal Open Market Committee’s July meeting.
