Eurozone retail sales decreased

Retail sales in the Eurozone fell 0.5 percent in April compared to the previous month.

According to European Union (EU) and Euro Zone April retail sales data published by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat), retail sales in the EU decreased by 0.6 percent in April compared to the previous month and by 0.1 percent on an annual basis. .

In the Eurozone, retail sales decreased by 0.5 percent on a monthly basis in April and remained stable on an annual basis.

The highest increase in retail sales on a monthly basis was seen in Slovakia with 2.4 percent, Bulgaria and Austria with 1.9 percent and Portugal with 1.7 percent. The highest decrease was determined in Latvia with 3.3 percent, the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus with 3.1 percent and Denmark with 2.7 percent.

Retail sales increased on an annual basis by 9.8 percent in Bulgaria and Romania, 8.6 percent in Croatia and Slovakia, 7.3 percent in Luxembourg, 7.3 percent in Poland, 5.8 percent in Belgium and In Estonia, it decreased by 4.9 percent.
