China electricity installed capacity exceeded 3 thousand gigawatts

China’s installed electricity capacity exceeded 3 thousand gigawatts as of the end of April.

According to China Electricity Council data, the country’s electricity capacity exceeded 1000 gigawatts in 2011 and 2 thousand gigawatts in 2019. As of the end of April this year, the installed capacity in electricity reached 3 thousand 9 gigawatts.

Of the total installed power in question, 1398 gigawatts consisted of thermal power plants, 671 gigawatts from solar power plants (SPP), 458 gigawatts from wind power plants (RES), 425 gigawatts from hydroelectric power plants and approximately 57 gigawatts from nuclear power plants.

Solar Power Plants and Wind Power Plants have a share of more than 35 percent in total capacity. The Chinese government, which is rapidly increasing its capacity in renewable energy, exports wind and solar energy equipment to more than 200 countries in the world.

The share of solar energy technologies in China’s 2023 exports was recorded as 245.3 billion dollars, and the share of wind energy technologies was recorded as 33.4 billion dollars.
