US Corsair buys mechanical keyboard maker Drop

US gaming equipment giant Corsair plans to expand its market share by acquiring customizable keyboard maker Drop. “Personalized consumer replaceable keyboards are one of the fastest growing trends in the PC gaming industry. With the acquisition, we hope to elevate the Drop brand to a leading position in the world market,” Corsair CEO Andy Paul said in a statement. While the financial value of the purchase was not disclosed, it was announced that the deal would be made in cash.

California-based American computer gaming equipment and hardware manufacturer Corsair plans to expand its market share by acquiring customizable keyboard manufacturer Drop.

Keyboards are an important piece of equipment for gamers, and personalized gaming keyboards are the trend of recent times, especially in competitive games. This strategic acquisition by Corsair is playing for market leadership by combining Drop’s market share with Corsair’s global reach, especially at this time when the customizable keyboard trend is on the rise.

The company has several mechanical keyboards of its own and will continue to operate Drop as its own brand. Corsair acquired computer manufacturer Origin PC and controller manufacturer Scuf Gaming in 2019.
