Transfer offer from Microsoft to its Chinese employees

It has been reported that the US technology company Microsoft has offered to transfer abroad to hundreds of its China-based staff working in the fields of artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

According to the news of The Wall Street Journal newspaper, based on officials on the subject, Microsoft has recently offered its staff, most of whom are Chinese nationals, to be transferred to countries such as the USA, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

Officials stated that the 700 to 800 employees the company offered to relocate work in the fields of cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

A Microsoft spokesperson also stated that providing different opportunities for company employees is part of their job and that the company offers optional transfer offers to hundreds of its employees.

The spokesman stated that Microsoft will continue to operate in China.

This offer from Microsoft was made after the US increased tariffs on some products in strategic sectors imported from China.

On May 14, US President Joe Biden administration decided to increase customs duties on products such as steel and aluminum, semiconductors, electric vehicles, batteries, critical minerals and solar cells imported from China in order to support domestic production in critical industries.
