Artificial intelligence-assisted dubbing is coming to YouTube

YouTube brings a new dimension to dubbing with the support of artificial intelligence. The company is testing a new tool that will help creators automatically transcribe their videos into other languages using AI. The company states that at first it was only dubbed from English to Spanish and Portuguese, but more language options will be available in the near future.

Video content platform YouTube brings a new dimension to dubbing with the support of artificial intelligence. The company is trialling a new tool that will help creators automatically transcribe their videos into other languages using AI. YouTube has collaborated with AI-powered voice-over service Aloud. The company announced that as of June 2023, creators have voiced more than 10,000 videos in more than 70 languages.

Amjad Hanif, YouTube’s Vice President of Product Management, said that YouTube is currently testing the tool with “hundreds” of creators.

The ability to easily copy languages with artificial intelligence allows a creator to expand their reach without needing to do anything else. The AI-powered dubbing product transcribes a video for the creator, then translates it and produces a dubbed version.

It is stated that the system, which was dubbed from English to Spanish and Portuguese at the first stage, will offer more language options in the future.
