Amazon Prime Day sales record $12.7 billion in sales

A sales record of 12.7 billion dollars was broken in the first 2 days of Prime Day, Amazon’s discount event, which is similar to days such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, where millions of people shop. The event, which continues between 11 and 17 July, offers discounts on thousands of products from electronics to cosmetics, from textiles to household goods. The group that increased its sales volume the most during the event was the household appliances sector with an increase of 52 percent.

The company reached a sales volume of 12.7 billion dollars in the first two days.

Prime Day, which is similar to days such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, where millions of people shop in America, takes place between July 11 and 17 this year.

The online retail giant said shoppers purchased more than 375 million items during its two-day sales event, up from the 300 million items sold last year. The average order size increased from $52 at the Prime Day event last year to $54.

In the sales event, household goods, fashion and beauty were among the prominent categories. The group that increased the sales volume the most was home appliances. Amazon achieved a 52 percent increase in the home appliances category at the event.

Sales of cleaning supplies increased by 27 percent, while sales of electronic goods increased by 15 percent.

On both days, 6.5 percent of orders were made with the “Buy Now Pay Later” system.
