Inflation in the Eurozone is in line with expectations

Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Euro Zone was determined at 2.4 percent on an annual basis in April, in line with expectations.

The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) has published the final inflation data of the Euro Zone and the European Union (EU) for April.

According to data, annual inflation in the Eurozone, which was 2.4 percent in March, remained at the same level in April. CPI was 0.6 percent on a monthly basis in April.

Market expectations were that annual inflation in the Eurozone would be 2.4 percent and monthly inflation would be 0.6 percent in April. The announced data were at the same level as market expectations.

Core inflation in the Eurozone was measured at 2.7 percent annually and 0.7 percent monthly in April.

In the EU, annual inflation, which was 2.6 percent in March, was determined at 2.6 percent in April. CPI in the EU was determined as 0.6 percent on a monthly basis in April.
When we look at the main components of inflation in the Eurozone, the highest annual inflation was in services with 1.64 percent. While services were followed by food, alcohol and tobacco products with 0.55 percent, and non-energy industrial products with 0.23 percent, energy products decreased by 0.04 percent.
According to EU compatible data, the countries with the highest inflation in April were Romania with 6.2 percent, Belgium with 4.9 percent, Croatia with 4.7 percent, Hungary with 3.6 percent and 3.4 percent. It was Austria and Spain.
