Toyota increased its global sales by 5.1 percent in the first 6 months

According to the data released by Toyota, the company sold 4 million 937 thousand vehicles in the first 6 months.

According to the official figures announced, Toyota sold 5.1 percent more vehicles in the first 6 months of 2023 compared to the same period last year, and sold 4 million 937 thousand vehicles.

Toyota’s sales in Japan increased by 33 percent to 878 thousand units. Having achieved sales of over 1.2 million units in America, Toyota also sold around 1.5 million vehicles in Asia. Increasing its sales in Europe as well, Toyota achieved sales of more than 570,000 vehicles in this period.

However, global interest in hybrid vehicles continued to increase. Compared to the same period of the previous year, it increased by 20 percent in the first 6 months and reached 1.6 million. On the other hand, sales of Toyota’s environmentally friendly product range consisting of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, fuel cell and all-electric vehicles increased by 23 percent and exceeded 1 million 710 thousand.

With the contribution of chip supply problems to a recovery trend, global production also increased with high demand. With an increase of 12 percent compared to the previous year, nearly 4.9 million vehicles were produced. Of that, 3.2 million took place outside of Japan, while more than 1.6 million were produced in Japan.
