Asian stocks fall

Asian markets drop as investors digest private surveys for service activity in Japan and China.

Asia-Pacific markets fell heavily as investors considered the release of special surveys on service activity from the region.

Service activity in Japan and China remained in expansion territory for the month, while growth slowed.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.16 percent and Topix partially rose. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Kospi lost 0.32% and the Kosdaq rose 0.44%.

Major Chinese markets, Shanghai Composite Index and Shenzhen Component Index were slightly lower. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 0.24 percent, while the Hang Seng Tech index rose 0.22 percent.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.15 percent after the Reserve Bank of Australia kept rates at 4.1 percent on Tuesday.
