Global health certification step for Covid-19 from EU

The Council of the European Union adopted the recommendation for the conversion of Covid-19 certificates into global health certificates.

The European Union (EU) has taken steps to convert the certificates created during the Covid-19 outbreak into a global health certificate.

The European Council adopted its recommendation on the conversion of certificates.

In the recommendation, EU member states were invited to be involved in the development of the World Health Organization (WHO) global health certification network.

According to the statement made by the European Council, the technology developed by the EU for digital Kovid certificates can be integrated into the network developed by WHO.

The decision of the European Council does not include the obligation of the Union countries to join the WHO’s network. If member states join the WHO network, certificates will need to meet the network’s requirements, particularly in the event of an international health emergency.

The EU’s current legislation for digital Covid certificates will expire on 30 June.
