US chip maker Micron to invest in India

US microchip maker Micron Technologies has announced that it will invest up to $825 million to build a new semiconductor assembly and test facility in India.

In a statement from Micron, it was reported that the company plans to establish a new assembly and test facility in Gujarat, India.

The statement said Micron’s new facility will meet demand from local and international markets, with phased construction of the new assembly and testing facility in Gujarat expected to begin this year.

In the statement, it was stated that the first phase of the facility is planned to be operational by the end of 2024, and it was stated that the capacity will be increased gradually over time in line with the global demand trends.

In the statement, it was emphasized that the investment amount will reach 825 million dollars, and it was noted that the total investment to be made in the facility with the support of the Indian government and the state of Gujarat will reach 2.75 billion dollars.
